Mark Randall, former Denver Nuggets player, hosted a week-long basketball camp at Front Range Christian School (FRCS) for Littleton area 3rd-8th graders the week of July 25-28. Miles Finch, Front Range Christian student and varsity basketball player commented, “It was awesome to hear his story and how he got to be in the NBA. I also learned a ton about post moves and playing inside. I hope to one day play at the collegiate level.”
Coach Mike Anderson, FRCS men's varsity basketball coach, remarked, “Mark is really a unique individual. I got to know him through traveling with the Nuggets. One day he pointed me out on a team bus for having a Fellowship of Christian Athletes T-shirt. We connected immediately because of our shared faith. Mark is one of the few genuine role models I know from the NBA.”
Students spent the week doing basketball drills, learning defensive skills, playing “knock-out,” and honing their offensive skills. Due to Mark Randall’s busy schedule as Community Liaison for the Denver Nuggets, this camp was a unique opportunity for area youth to learn from a former NBA player.
Leif Larsen, FRCS student and varsity basketball player, said, “My favorite part of the week was helping to coach the kids in defense. They loved slapping the ground and yelling, ‘Defense!’” Coach Anderson hopes to do this event each year for youth in the Littleton area. “It’s been a calling for Mark to do these camps,” Coach Anderson commented. “We hope to bring this camp to Littleton for years to come.”
